The European Game
The Introduction of the European Game to the website is by way of light relief and fun.
For interest, we often read extracts, those favoured parts of a favourite book, that stand out and actually contribute to the definition of individuality. Complete extracts or partial snips that are eloquent and full of information enable perspective to widen.
There is a shift. The binoculars are gently brought into 20:20 focus, or, when no one’s looking, we quietly turn the telescope around 360 degrees. Ah! Well, look at that!!

The joy of research is the awareness of widening perspectives, the knowledge gained feeling akin to vast libraries of the mind.
And Extracts often come, not from the internet, but from the books we hold onto and revisit. This last point is increasingly important as, in October 2025, we are becoming aware that we need to revert to paper again, both for writing and reading and research, because of the sudden surge in multinational scams both by state and by individual criminals ad highly organised crime gangs amnd syndicates.
When I read a novel set in 1927 and which was published in 1927, I am aware that I am no longer reading an old-frashioned, out-of-date, irrelevant book. Suddenly, a window opens into the world of 1926. So this is how it was when my parents were born!
Historical fact is constantly evolving. Our view on any historical subject is constantly being refashioned as more evidence comes to light because of our technological advances that were absent at the time the event was unfolding.
